A student at Concorde's Memphis campus on national backpack awareness day.

Lanier Middle School in Memphis, Tennessee partnered with our Occupational Therapy Staff in Memphis for National Backpack Awareness Day on September 17th.

An American Occupational Therapy Association study reports that, on average, 6th graders carry backpacks weighing close to 20 lbs. Heavy bags send nearly 28,000 students to the hospital for back problems.

Our students spent the afternoon teaching students at Lanier Middle School the proper way to carry their backpacks and purses in order to prevent back issues later in life. They also delivered new, sturdy backpacks filled with school supplies to all 400 students.

We pride ourselves in giving back to the local communities and are excited this event was such a great success.
