As someone pursuing a health care degree program, you'll learn about some of the most challenging issues plaguing the general population today. Whether personally or professionally, one of these areas that you're sure to encounter is eating disorders.

This week is National Eating Disorder Awareness Week (NEDA). Designed to put the spotlight on the seriousness of eating disorders and to improve public understanding of their causes, triggers, and treatments, NEDA is taking a direct look at how these types of disorders know no boundaries, gender norms or social classes.

This year's theme centers on the idea that "3 minutes can save a life." Professionals in the industry feel focusing on early identification and intervention can lead to positive outcomes.

Throughout the week, advocates are encouraging those who might be affected to complete this three-minute screening to determine if it's time to seek professional help.
