After a brief hiatus, we return today with our periodic spotlight of Concorde’s Campus Presidents. We welcome the new CP at our Kansas City, Mo. campus, Jamie Carpenter. Jamie comes to Concorde from another career college in the Kansas City area and said she couldn't be more excited for the opportunity to positively affect the lives of students leading a health care career college.
So, read on and learn her piece of advice for Type A personalities and work-a-holics, her love of crime documentaries (and, Real Housewives), as well as her side venture in the food industry.

WHAT'S BEEN YOUR JOURNEY TO BECOMING A CONCORDE CP?
I earned a bachelor of arts degree in psychology from the University of Arkansas - Fayetteville in 1999. I later earned a master of arts in higher and postsecondary education from Argosy University. I began my career in higher education in 1999 at Vatterott College, where I served as a High School Presenter and Admissions Representative. In 2004, I went to work for Bryan University in Springfield, Mo., where I held the Director of Admissions and Executive Director roles. In 2008, I began working for ITT Technical Institute as a Campus Director and opened a start-up campus in Madison, Ala. I later transferred to their Knoxville, Tenn. campus and served as the Campus Director for that location. In 2011, I accepted the Campus President position with Brown Mackie College and relocated to Kansas City to be closer to family. I'm excited to now be a part of the team at Concorde Career College in Kansas City, where I can continue to make a difference in the lives of others.
WHAT'S BEEN THE BEST PART ABOUT BEING A CAMPUS PRESIDENT?
I love seeing students achieve more than they thought possible, assisting faculty and staff with their professional growth and development and knowing that each and every day, we have the opportunity to positively impact others.
IS THERE ANYTHING THAT MAKES THE KANSAS CITY CAMPUS STAND OUT?
The Kansas City campus is a hidden treasure! There is a great team here, full of heart and passion for our students. There is a wonderful blend of experienced, tenured associates and fresh faces with fresh ideas. This, combined with a commitment to teamwork, is a recipe for success. The entire campus has made me feel welcome, and I continue to learn from them every day. I look forward to fostering strong partnerships, with a commitment to continuous improvement and making a difference in the lives of others.
WHAT'S THE BEST PIECE OF ADVICE YOU EVER WERE GIVEN?
"Let it go!" It is a simple piece of advice, but for Type A personalities, work-a-holics and top performers, it is a tough one. I'm blessed to be surrounded by many of these personalities, and it is important to remember that it is not perfection, but progress, that we must strive to achieve each day. When we fall short, we need to take a brief pause to evaluate what we could have done better, learn from our mistakes, and then let it go. That is how we are able to move on in a positive direction, focused on continuous growth and improvement. Reliving past mistakes and beating ourselves up over them is not productive. Easier said than done, however.
WHAT'S A FAVORITE TV SHOW, RECENT MOVIE YOU'VE SEEN OR BOOK YOU'VE READ?
Favorite TV shows are any and all crime documentaries (Snapped, Dateline, 48 Hours Mystery, anything on ID). I also love "Real Housewives of" any and all cities on Bravo. My fiance, however, is not a fan, so crime documentaries generally win in our house.
"The Ideal Team Player" is the most recent book I've read. It is a quick read with some sound advice for hiring. "Whale Done" is a book that was recommended to me when I first became a Campus Executive Director in 2005. It was another quick read with a great message for leaders about catching people doing things right.
WHAT IS A HIDDEN TALENT, FAVORITE HOBBY OR LITTLE-KNOWN FACT PEOPLE DON'T KNOW ABOUT YOU?
I consider myself a minor league foodie. I love to cook, and I own a small local food business that provides prepared meals for busy families, which my fiance runs. We also flip houses and have six daughters between us, so you could say we stay very busy.
