respiratory therapist

Respiratory therapy is a calling that literally involves helping patients breathe easier, which explains why so many people are grateful to respiratory therapists and why so many respiratory therapists enjoy their jobs. It's hard to imagine a job that makes a bigger, or more immediate, difference in the lives of patients.

By the way, did you know that it's National Respiratory Care Week? Yep, which is why we're here to tell you about the ways you can honor this health-savvy holiday from within or outside the medical industry and how you can get the degree to become a respiratory therapist and consider this amazing calling.

HONORING RESPIRATORY CARE WEEK

Work in the medical industry? In training to become a respiratory therapist? Just super passionate about this life-saving contribution to the medical field? There are lots of ways you can celebrate, no matter who you are. Some of those ideas include:

  • Thanking the respiratory therapists you work with or who have helped you
  • Sharing information about lung diseases, asthma, COPD, etc. with members of the community who aren't informed
  • Making thorough treatment plans for patients who suffer from respiratory problems
  • Studying various respiratory problems to see if you're interested in a particular focus, whether you're already a respiratory therapist, a trainee, or just a concerned citizen

This week comes only once a year and helps raise awareness about a problem that affects millions of children and adults around the world. Taking it seriously and sharing what you know can help make a difference.

WHY RESPIRATORY THERAPY?

Consider the simple satisfaction that comes from helping others. When we see a child with asthma or an senior who can't breathe due to progressive disease, most people want to help. As a respiratory therapist, you can be that person, making a significant difference in the lives of your patients and in the practice within which you work.

Also according to the BLS, the number of respiratory therapist jobs is growing at a faster-than-average rate of 13 percent
