Medical Assistant Program Coursework

The medical assistant diploma program at Concorde's Tampa campus covers computer applications, medical record keeping, and clinical skills including blood draws, vital sign measurement and more. Medical Assistant Diploma Program Delivered with Blended Learning

Concorde's approach to delivering a hands-on career focused medical assistant program leverages a blended learning model. You will complete some coursework and lab assignments conveniently online. With support from a dedicated online success coach to help you get accustomed to virtual learning.

Additionally you will visit the campus to apply theory to practice in simulation labs. With guidance from instructors with real-world experience you will practice taking vital signs, patient information, blood, EKG and other procedures.

The third element of Concorde's blended learning model is practical hands-on application in a health care setting. - the Externship Experience. Your externship experience provides  a variety of cases and medical professional interactions - helping you better prepare for a career as a medical assistant.

Career Outlook

Primary Duties of a Medical Assistant Include:

  • Taking patient histories and vital signs (blood pressure, etc.)
  • Entering data into patient records
  • Handling administrative tasks, such as scheduling appointments and calling in referrals
  • Keeping supply inventories in treatment rooms and the office stocked
  • Gathering blood or other samples and preparing them for laboratory tests
  • Assisting doctors or nurses during examinations
  • Administering basic clinical tasks, such as cleaning and dressing wounds
