Southaven Medical Office Professional Program Overview

Train to become a medical office professional with Concorde in Memphis or Southaven. Our medical office professional diploma and associate of science degree combines practical administrative support skills with foundational clinical knowledge, so you can prepare to manage records, appointments, paperwork for medical tests, medical billing and more.

As part of this program, you’ll develop medical billing and coding skills that can prepare you for the Certified Professional Coder (CPC) exam.   You can be ready for an exciting new career in less than one year!

Medical Office Professional Diploma Program Curriculum

Medical Office Professionals gain the skills necessary to handle most medical office business and financial operations, including accounts receivable and payable, billing and fee collection, payroll and taxes, records management, insurance claims processing, typing, and word processing.

Choose how you'll learn:

OPTION 1: Lecture/lab and externship courses delivered with an appropriate blend of both online and on-ground hours in the same course.

Of the 800 program hours, a maximum of 400 course hours (50.0%) may be offered online. 

OPTION 2:  Lecture/lab courses delivered entirely online; externship course delivered either entirely on-ground or with an appropriate blend of both online and on-ground hours in the same course.

Of the 800 program hours, a maximum of 640 course hours (80.0%) may be offered online.

Depending upon which modality students pursue, they will practice theory in simulated medical office settings either remotely or on-campus, as part of their lab requirements.

All students will complete an externship, applying the theory and lab work in a hands-on experience.

Medical Office Professional Associate of Applied Science Degree Program Curriculum

The Southaven medical office professional degree program includes general education courses covering mathematics, written, verbal, and nonverbal communications; interpersonal skills; critical thinking; the sciences; and the humanities.

Associate of Applied Science Degree Curriculum

The curriculum also covers theoretical knowledge and practical skills in computer skills, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, medical office procedures, communication, psychosocial skills, office procedures, insurance, and ancillary coding procedures with continuous practice in the school labs
