DESOTO Family Theater Scholarship

Concorde Career College-Southaven is committed to providing the local community with trained, qualified, job-ready graduates.  The Southaven campus offers a $scholarship, each theater show run, to prospective students interested in pursuing an education in health care at Concorde’s Southaven campus.

Program Details and Eligibility Criteria:

  • Applicants must meet Concorde’s minimum admissions requirements applicable to their desired program of study in effect at the time of enrollment.
  • Applicants must be enrolled in or plan to enroll in a program offered at Concorde’s Southaven campus within 6 months of acceptance of the scholarship.
  • All scholarship recipients must remain in good academic standing and be free of any financial holds on their account during the length of their programs.
  • Applicants must complete a 1,000-word essay about how a career in health care will make a difference in the student’s
  • As are to be submitted online via Concorde’s website no later than ten days after each show runs. Show dates can be found at https://www.dftonline.org/2018-season
  • As a condition of accepting this scholarship, each applicant is required to grant permission to Concorde to release information contained in the scholarship application to the news media in the event that he or she is awarded the scholarship. Additionally, the scholarship recipient must provide an autobiography and a personal photo for use by Concorde.

Selection Criteria:

An independent Scholarship Committee will review all applications for each show run period and make a recommendation for the chosen scholarship recipients based on the following criteria:

  • The applicants must meet all eligibility requirements.
  • Quality of the essay
    • Content that addresses the essay question.
    • Ideas are organized.
    • Proper formatting, grammar, spelling and other writing mechanics are used.

Administration

  • The scholarship will be awarded over the length of the program. The scholarship funds will be distributed evenly across the student’s enrollment, with equal amounts being applied to each payment period until the award is exhausted.
  • Recipients must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) as outlined in the catalog to remain eligible for the scholarship award.
  • If this scholarship is combined with other federal, state or institutional aid resources, the scholarship cannot exceed the student’s direct cost to attend school (tuition, books and fees). Concorde will follow its standard packaging philosophy and award both need and non-need- based federal grants before awarding institutional scholarships/grants. This scholarship will not, in whole or in part, be awarded to the student as a cash payment.

Concorde makes available a limited amount of money each year for the Desoto Family Theater Scholarship. Once available funding is exhausted, scholarships will not be available to otherwise eligible students.

All applicants will be notified of the decision via email approximately 30 days after the scholarship application deadline. Following receipt of the Scholarship Committee’s decision, the chosen recipient must respond to the committee within 30 days indicating his or her intent to accept the scholarship.  The scholarship is nontransferrable.

  1. Program length may be subject to change dependent on transfer credits and course load. Please refer to current course catalog for more information. Concorde does not guarantee admittance, graduation, subsequent employment or salary amount.

  2. Professional certification is not a requirement for graduation, may not be a requirement for employment nor does it guarantee employment.

  3. Financial aid is available to those who qualify but may not be available for all programs. Concorde does not guarantee financial aid or scholarship awards or amounts.

  4. Clinical hour requirements and delivery may vary by campus location and may be subject to change. Concorde does not guarantee clinical site assignments based upon student preference or geographic convenience; nor do clinical experiences guarantee graduation, post-clinical employment or salary outcomes.

  5. Registration and certification requirements for taking and passing these examinations are not controlled by Concorde, but by outside agencies, and are subject to change by the agency without notice. Therefore, Concorde cannot guarantee that graduates will be eligible to take these exams, at all or at any specific time, regardless of their eligibility status upon enrollment.
