CoARC accredits respiratory therapy education programs in the United States. To achieve this end, it utilizes an ‘outcomes based’ process. Programmatic outcomes are performance indicators that reflect the extent to which the educational goals of the program are achieved and by which program effectiveness is documented.

How It Works
Concorde's respiratory therapy training program is designed to integrate seamlessly into your hospital’s workflow while developing skilled professionals who are ready to contribute immediately upon graduation. Here’s how the process works:
- 1
Identify a part-time preceptor to oversee training
Select a knowledgeable and experienced staff member to act as a preceptor. This individual plays a pivotal role in guiding candidates through the clinical training process.
The preceptor provides hands-on mentorship, ensuring that candidates understand hospital policies, procedures, and the use of specific equipment.
Acting as both a coach and evaluator, the preceptor helps candidates build confidence and competence in their skills.
Concorde supports the preceptor with structured resources and regular communication to make their role manageable and impactful.
- 2
Identify candidates for the Respiratory Therapy Program
Choose candidates who show potential to excel as respiratory therapists. This could include existing staff members looking to advance their careers or new hires with the aptitude and motivation to thrive in the program.
Concorde offers guidance in identifying the traits and skills that make a successful respiratory therapist.
By selecting candidates who are already part of your organization or community, you foster a sense of loyalty and investment in your hospital’s mission.
- 3
Set a flexible training schedule tailored to your hospital's needs
Work collaboratively with Concorde to establish a training schedule that balances candidates' learning commitments with their professional responsibilities.
Training is designed to be flexible, with online coursework and virtual labs that can be completed at times that suit both candidates and hospital operations.
Clinical training occurs on-site, allowing candidates to gain experience in real-world scenarios without disrupting hospital workflows.
The schedule also accommodates the preceptor’s availability, ensuring they can fulfill their mentorship role without overburdening their workload.
- 4
Regularly check progress with Concorde's Clinical Coordinator and Program Director
Maintain open communication throughout the program to monitor progress, address challenges, and ensure alignment with goals.
Regular check-ins involve the candidate, preceptor, Concorde Clinical Coordinator, and Program Director.
These meetings are opportunities to celebrate milestones, troubleshoot issues, and refine the training approach as needed.
Concorde provides ongoing support, ensuring that everyone involved in the process feels empowered to contribute to the candidates’ success.
