Pharmacy Technician Career Overview

Pharmacy technicians assist a pharmacist in their duties, including: handling customer transactions and compound medications under the direction of a pharmacist. They also handle insurance claim processing, inventory and more.

The primary duties of a pharmacy technician include:

  • Collecting customer information to fulfill prescriptions
  • Contacting physicians to request a pharmacy refill
  • Measuring, packaging & labeling prescriptions
  • Tracking pharmacy inventory & re-ordering supplies
  • Answering customer phone calls
  • Arranging customer consultations with the pharmacist
  • Scheduling vaccination appointments

Concorde Career College Orlando campus offers a 6-month diploma program that can prepare you for retail or institutional jobs with advanced skills to help you stand out in the job market.

The Pharmacy Technician Diploma program at the Orlando campus combines online coursework with in-person labs and a hands-on externship.  The curriculum is designed to teach students the fundamentals of supporting pharmacists, compounding medications, filling prescriptions, and helping patients.

As part of the program students learn pharmaceutical calculations for different patient populations, such as pediatric patients, cancer patients, and patients requiring medications for their daily well-being.

Pharmacy Technician Diploma in as few as 6-months!

This pharmacy technician diploma program through the Orlando campus, combines foundational knowledge of medical terminology, pharmacology, pharmacy law, pharmaceutical calculations, administration procedures, and more. It includes hands-on training in sterile and non-sterile compounding in our labs, plus an externship to help you gain real-world experience.

As part of our commitment to your success, Concorde ensures that you have access to comprehensive information and guidance in navigating the financial aid process. Concorde offers financial aid and scholarship programs to those who qualify.


The Florida Association of Postsecondary Schools and Colleges

The Florida Association of Postsecondary Schools and Colleges offers $1,000 scholarships for tuition, books or supplies.

The scholarships are awarded three times per year and are open to active or incoming students to an FAPSC institution in Florida. Students enrolled in or planning to attend Concorde Career Institute campuses are FAPSC scholarship eligible.

Award Amount:  $1,000

Scholarship Deadline:  

  • Winter Cycle Open January 1st and Closes March 1st
  • Spring Cycle Open May 1st and Closes July 1st
  • Fall Cycle Open September 1st and Closes November 1st

Scholarship Eligibility Requirements: 

  • Attending or accepted into a FAPSC institution (Concorde Career Institute campuses in Jacksonville, Miramar, Orlando or Florida)
  • Application with essay and two-personal recommendations
  • Submit via email to: LindaW@fapscfoundation.edu by the relevant deadline
