Medical Assistant Program Overview

Medical assistants help keep medical offices and hospital departments running. Equally adept at administering injections and updating computer records, good medical assistants can provide the support doctors and nurses need to do their work safely and efficiently.
Primary Duties may include:
- Taking patient histories & vital signs
- Creating and updating patient records
- Handling administrative tasks - scheduling appointments & following-up on referrals
- Assisting doctors or nurses during examinations
- Maintaining supply inventories in treatment rooms and offices
- Gathering blood or other samples and preparing them for laboratory tests
- Administering basic clinical tasks, such as cleaning and dressing wounds
