Nursing Program Philosophy
Concorde nursing program is designed to prepare nurses to function safely and effectively in the generalist role. We strive to prepare culturally competent nurses while demonstrating professionalism, unwavering service, disseminating evidence-based nursing knowledge, and a rigorous curriculum with high regard to the quality and safety standards of nursing education.
Nursing Program Goal
In congruence with Concorde's general mission statement, the goal of the nursing program is to equip students for successful employment in the field of nursing through high caliber training with practical, real world experiences along with student centered support.
Nursing Program Purpose
The purpose of the Associate of Applied Science in Nursing Practice program is to:
- Provide a learning environment that will led to successful completion of program objectives
- Prepare a responsible and accountable professional nurse who uses critical thinking while providing competent, safe, client/patient care.
- Prepare the graduate to provide nursing care in a variety of settings.
- Prepare the graduate to value personal and professional growth as lifelong learners.
- Prepare the graduate to successfully pass the NCLEX-RN® examination on first attempt and become gainfully employed. †
Graduate Student Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the program, it is intended that the students will:
- Provide safe, compassionate, culturally competent, patient-centered, quality care in a variety of settings for patients across the lifespan in response to their changing health needs.
- Examine the evidence that underlies clinical nursing practice to challenge the status quo, question underlying assumptions, and offer new insights to improve the quality of care for patients, families, and communities.
- Use the nursing process to make judgments in practice, substantiated with evidence, that integrate nursing science in the provision of safe, quality care and promote the health of patients within a family and community context.
- Demonstrate excellence using evidence-based practice in integrity, responsibility, professional identity, and ethical decision making in the role of the nurse while advocating for patients, families, colleagues, community, and self.
- Utilize information technology, professional standards, and professional communication to emerge as leaders in inter-professional collaboration in the provision of safe, quality, care for patients and families.
Nursing Program Delivery
The Nursing Practice program is delivered in a blended format. Some courses will be delivered entirely online, entirely on-ground or with an appropriate blend of both online and on-ground hours in the same course. The campus may have the option to deliver general education courses either online or on-ground depending on local need and availability.
Clinical Experience
All nursing students, as a requirement for graduation, must complete in-person hands-on clinical hours. Concorde's clinical coordinator will help secure the necessary site hours for students.ᶛᶛ
