The Dental Hygiene program at Concorde Career Colleges provides the education and training you need to become a professional in this growing health care field. Dental Hygienists provide dental health education, prevent and treat oral disease, promote and encourage the preventive aspects of dental care and assume responsibility for patient care in the dental office.
As part of their responsibilities, Dental Hygienists perform certain health care assessments, including patient health history reviews, oral cancer screening, dental charting, and taking blood pressure. They expose, process and interpret dental radiographs. Dental Hygienists remove soft and hard deposits from both above and below the gum line and teach patients proper techniques to maintain healthy gums and teeth. They also counsel their patients about the importance of good nutrition.
