With 2016 upon us, it is commonplace for people to find themselves reflecting on their lives and ways they can either improve or enhance it. In fact, an article published yesterday in Forbe's magazine notes, "research suggests that approximately half of all Americans make New Yearâs resolutions yet only 8% actually achieve them." The scenarios are often similar, you have been in the same career for years and have become bored, your current job is just not getting the bills paid, or you never had the opportunity for an education. There are many reasons we make New Yearâs resolutions, the only question is â why is it so hard to keep it?
WHY DO WE MAKE NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTIONS?According to the Washington Post, the tradition of New Yearâs resolutions can be traced back to Caesar. These resolution were mostly moral â try some kindness or be more honest. In modern times these resolutions have morphed from the personal â getting engaged or being in a relationship by the end of the year, health focused â losing weight, or career focused â new job or acquire more education.
