Concorde Adds New Nursing Degree Program in Memphis

Nursing reported to be among the largest number of new Tennessee job openings.

Memphis, TN (May 2012)-Concorde Career Colleges Inc. announced today that its Memphis campus is adding a new Nursing-(AAS) degree program. Concorde's new Associate of Applied Science degree program prepares students to take the National Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX.RN). Graduates who pass the NCLEX.RN can enter the healthcare workforce as a Registered Nurse. Students can complete the Concorde Nursing-(AAS) program in as few as 15 months.

"Registered Nurses are a crucial healthcare component during so many stages of life," said Memphis Campus President Tommy Stewart. "A Registered Nurse is highly skilled and educated, and is accountable for critical decisions that impact the lives of the patients and their families. If you are a natural caretaker, you could be earning a satisfying paycheck in a really rewarding career."

According to the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development, the need for Registered Nurses is projected to generate 20,900 new jobs, among the largest number of new jobs for any occupation in Tennessee. Additional job openings will result from the need to replace experienced nurses who leave the occupation.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics, Occupational Employment and Wage Estimates reported that the median annual earnings of Registered Nurses for the state of Tennessee was $56,100 in May 2010.
